This show was by far one of my favorites to work on. It was really fun diving into the design and construction of something so iconic. I designed the north pole elf costumes with the movie in mind but also putting my own twist on it and keeping the small time frame and little budget we had in mind. All north pole elf costumes were constructed out of a scuba knit, making them easy and quick to construct as no serging had to take place. The fabric was also breathable and had a slight 2 way stretch to it, making it ideal for the stage. Buddy's costume was constructed out of a neoprene scuba knit. This made it rigid, mimicking the appearance of a coating fabric. It had the same stretch and breathability as the normal scuba knit, if not more. The fabric also took well to sweat since it is made to be used in the water. All of the north pole elves were constructed by my co-costumer and I, with a little help from our intern at the time. Buddy's costume was constructed by me. Most of the rest of the costumes were pulled from the extensive stock they have at ECCT, however, a lot of the women's business wear were pieces that the actors brought from home that were approved by me before they were added to the show. This happened because we found that our time was better spent finishing and perfecting the iconic parts of the show.
