For this show, every piece you see in the pictures was fully constructed by my co-costumer, with a little help from our supervisor and intern at the time. Technically my co-costumer was the head designer for this one but we found it best to put our heads together and design the show between the two of us. He designed the base costumes and I came up with any additional pieces that the actor wore. I would sketch up a quick design, run it by him and then we went from there about how to go about making it. What you see to the right is the design board that we made for this show, it's the only one we ever made during our time at ECCT and you will notice that some of our designs changed entirely. I draped and constructed any piece that you see that is weaved and or quilted. The shop that we worked in came with minimal resources, so I ended up sort of 'guessing' on most things, using dress forms for draping that were sort of close to the actors' size and then adjusting it as a flat pattern. We also ended up modifying commercial patterns. Of course, then each garment was fit and altered to the corresponding actor.
